Why SLA wording matters
A hosting SLA is useful only when it explains what is measured, what is excluded, and what happens when the provider misses the target. A 99.9% number sounds strong, but it still allows downtime, and many providers exclude maintenance windows, third-party outages, DDoS events, or customer configuration errors.
The operational checklist
Check uptime calculation, support response time, recovery time objective, recovery point objective, backup retention, CDN availability, security incident support, migration help, and renewal pricing. For a site that earns from ads or leads, support quality is often more valuable than a slightly larger server.
Questions to ask before paying
Ask whether support will inspect WordPress, database queries, DNS, SSL, CDN cache, and malware symptoms, or whether they only manage the operating system. The answer tells you how much work remains on your side during an outage.
Useful references
Before you sign
Keep the SLA, backup policy, and renewal pricing in one folder. If the site becomes a real business asset, documentation is part of the infrastructure.
